Vice-Director of the Investment and Promotion Bureau of the Chinese Ministry of Commerce Wang Jian led the Chinese Investment and Trade Promotion Mission to Cuba and Canada for a series of promotion activities from July 20 to 27.
The mission, composed of entrepreneurs from such industries as agriculture, energy, biological medicine, finance and real estate development, held China-Cuba Investment and Cooperation Presentation, together with Cuba Chamber of Commerce. Government officials such as President of Cuba Chamber of Commerce Orlando Hernandez Guillen attended the meeting and introduced the business environment, the newly-issued foreign investment law and the situation of the development zone of Mariel port in Cuba. The Chinese mission visited the development zone, encouraged Chinese mineral products and medicine enterprises to sign cooperative agreements with their Cuban counterparts and helped enterprises from such industries as electric appliance and medicine discuss cooperation with local businesses.
During the visit to Canada, the Chinese mission held China-Canada Investment and Cooperation Presentation jointly with the Economic and Trade Office of Ontario, Canada. Assistant Deputy Minister of the Ontarian Economic and Trade Office Richard Kikuta attended the meeting and introduced the investment environment, policies and relevant laws and regulations in Ontario as well as the general situation of Chinese enterprises investing in Ontario. The Chinese mission also held the Chinese enterprises symposium together with the business office of the Chinese consulate general in Ontario. Seven Chinese entrepreneurs investing in Canada such as representatives from the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China, China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, ZTE and Huawei attended and addressed the meeting. In addition, Chinese enterprises from such industries as real estate, education and medicine conducted project matching, with practical results.
